AI in higher education: Experts discuss changes to be seen - Stephen Kenney, Phys.org


While students are flocking to AI tools, many universities have failed to keep up with the dramatic shift. A January 2025 report from the Digital Education Council revealed that though 61% of college faculty have used AI in teaching, 88% of them have only incorporated it in minimal to moderate amounts. The University of Cincinnati is at the forefront of shaping AI policy and equipping faculty and students with AI literacy skills. MidwestCon, one of the region's premier tech conferences, recently hosted its 2025 event at UC's 1819 Innovation Hub and discussed the role of AI in higher education. Below are some takeaways from the session titled "Brains, Bots and the Battle for Creativity."
