The reliance on AI detection tools in academic environments has already begun to erode trust between students and educators. False accusations of academic dishonesty, driven by the inaccuracies of AI detection systems, have serious consequences for students, including damage to their academic records and reputations. As I have previously argued (Mahir, 2023g), students who are wrongly accused of using AI tools may become disillusioned with the educational system, leading to decreased motivation and engagement.
