Some students are choosing to opt out of traditional learning for online school - Taylor Burke, KOLO

Chris McBride, the Superintendent at Nevada Connections Academy, explains that traditional learning does a great job educating the majority of students. But, not all students. “They might work, they might have medical issues, they might be athletes or performers. Some students also just don’t feel safe in brick and mortar schools and that’s a large reason students attend our school as well,” said McBride. Nevada Connections Academy, a tuition-free online public school, serves Nevada students in grades 9-12. As opposed to traditional learning, online courses allows students the chance to work at their own pace, in their own environment, and with the ability for more personalized learning.
