GenAI, for all of its threats and challenges, is both a catalyst and a solution. Many of today’s students will graduate into roles where effectively using GenAI is — or will soon become — an essential function of their jobs. Confidently acquiring the requisite skills in university will provide a compelling advantage in the job market as well as in students’ personal lives. Students need to be taught how to use this technology effectively and ethically — among other essential transferable skills. This has huge implications for higher education as tomorrow’s students will increasingly be seeking, even demanding, programs that promise to do just that.
