CSU ponders $10 million in online education options - LARRY MITCHELL, Chicoer

How should they spend $10 million? California State University officials are trying to figure that out. Gov. Jerry Brown, in his proposed state budget, recommended giving the CSU $125.1 million more than it received last year. The allocation includes $10 million for online technology to help students move toward graduation more quickly. Politicians, educators and others want to get students through college faster because that will save students money, have them working and paying taxes sooner, and make more room on campuses for other students who are waiting to get in. This year, the CSU turned away about 26,000 students who applied and met all the requirements. Their applications were rejected because there wasn't money to hire faculty to teach them at the system's 23 campuses. http://www.chicoer.com/ci_22910674/csu-ponders-10-million-online-education-options
