Universities training students for jobs in high, low demand - Roger McKinney, Joplin Globe

Area universities and community colleges are training students for careers that are in high demand. Nursing and teaching, for example. And they are training students for careers for which there may be less demand in the future. Police officers, for example. At issue is the role of universities and colleges. Is it to train students for specific careers and jobs? Or is it to give them tools to prepare them for a fluctuating job market? In the 21st century, it’s both, educators say.
