Simon Fraser University: Lifelong learning helps career development - THE PROVINCE

For over 40 years, SFU Continuing Studies has been changing lives through adult education. From flexible degree completion to professional development and personal growth, SFU Continuing Studies programs help people upgrade their skills, move up in their profession, change careers, learn more about their favourite subject, or find anew passion. "A year and a half ago, Danny (a former student) was laid off after 23 years in customer service-but after opening himself to the possibility of a new career, he completed our Career Development Practitioner Certificate," says SFU Continuing Studies Dean Helen Wussow. "Today, he's a successful career counsellor. He calls it his dream job." There are many more stories like these, she says.
