Winston-Salem State to trim adjunct professor budget in half to deal with deep state cuts - THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

Winston-Salem State University says it will have fewer adjunct professors as it deals with state budget cuts that could top 15 percent. Chancellor Donald Reaves told the Winston-Salem Journal the school is not considering a tuition increase because it is not fair to offset spending cuts from the state on the backs of students. University officials say they will cut the adjunct professor budget in half to $2 million, meaning the school will have to offer fewer classes and full-time professors will have less time to do research and advise students.
