A recent article in USA Today by Meena Thiruvengadam brings to light the difficulty female military veterans are facing after leaving the armed forces and trying to find civilian jobs. While women outside the military are bouncing back from the recession and encountering less unemployment than men, female military veterans “are increasingly battling homelessness and unemployment.” In fact, female military veterans are now twice as likely to become homeless than women who never served in the military. Why is this happening?
