Should Instructional Designers Be Called ‘Learning Engineers’? - Joshua Kim, Inside Higher Ed

How many of you spent some of your weekend, like me, reading the MIT report - Online Education: A Catalyst for Higher Education Reforms? It really doesn’t get more exciting for us online learning nerds. This report, the final report of Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Online Education Policy Initiative, has lots to say about the future of higher education. The first thing that caught my eye is - Recommendation 3: Support the Expanding Profession of the Learning Engineer. Have you ever heard the job title learning engineer? I haven’t. At my school, these folks go by the title of instructional designer.
