Over two years, Chico State University lost 92 faculty members, according to the head of the local professors union. Some retired, some took other jobs, and some lecturers (mostly part-time teachers) were let go, said Susan Green, president of the California Faculty Association at Chico State. The figure represents a "net loss" of faculty between May 2009 and May 2011, she said. Probably more than 92 stopped working for the university during the two years, and some who left were replaced. The key fact is there were 92 fewer people teaching at Chico State in May 2011 than there were in May 2009, she said.
