UPCEA Past President Karen Sibley Named Brown University Vice President for Strategic Initiaitives

Karen Sibley, past president of UPCEA and currently the dean of the School of Professional Studies (SPS) at Brown University, has been named vice president for strategic initiatives. In her expanded position, Karen will take a leadership role in creating innovative educational opportunities for learners of all ages, which will include new outreach to K-12, support for faculty efforts in digital education, innovative master’s education, and programs geared toward our alumni. She will continue her duties as dean of SPS and continue to report to the provost. In announcing the appointment, Brown University Provost Vicki Colvin said: "We are fortunate to have Karen Sibley as a leader at Brown. She both deeply understands Brown’s distinctive culture and can translate the high-touch education we provide to diverse audiences." During her time at Brown, Karen has served as dean of Summer and Continuing Studies and executive associate dean of the College for curricular outreach.
